Nah, I'm not going to tell you yet. You have to read through to find out. :)
Today was the "big ultrasound," as the 20-week anatomical scan is commonly known. Griff joined Dan and I for a peek at the latest member of the Lucia-Hardy clan while Reese played at home with our neighbor Matthew. Highlights for Griff included seeing the bones (I agree, the spine and femurs are way cool), seeing/hearing the heart beat, and getting a look at all that gel on mommy's belly. Dan and I were pleased to see that all the parts and pieces are where they should be and growing at all the right rates. A bonus for me was getting to watch the baby hiccupping. I had felt some rhythmic blips last week that felt like hiccups but thought it was too early. Nope, not too early, the kiddo was hiccupping away, working out that little diaphragm and getting ready to breathe in about 20 weeks.
We only got a few photos, and none of them are fabulous, but we love them anyway. Here you go (click on them to see larger, easier-to-read versions):
3. And...it's a...BOY! I feel a bit crass showing this photo, but hey, what the heck. I'm sure someday I'll be embarassing him by showing bathtub shots to his girlfriend, so why not get an early start on that...
I joked with Dan that he just does NOT give up that X chromosome. His response? "I'm using it!" Well, whether or not he is, it's a house full of boys for us!
