Our new school routine is SO much easier than the old one. We now wander out the front door at 8:30-8:35ish to catch the bus right across the street from our house. It usually arrives around 8:40 and Griff has about a three-minute ride to school. He was nervous the first day and asked me to drive him after weeks of insisting that he would ride the bus, and I suggested that we just wait at the stop and see how he felt. Well, one of our neighbors has two children at Munford who are in 3rd and 5th grade and ride the bus. 5 minutes getting to know them, and Griff was no longer shy and hopped right on the bus without so much as a backward glance. The only thing stranger than how old he is now is how *not* a big deal putting him on the bus was.
Reese and Xander and I hop in the car and drive to Sabot (7 minutes) after seeing Griffin off. Xander and I return home and he is either already asleep in the car and transfers to his bed, or we play for an hour and then I nurse him down. I get housework done, he wakes up, we get Reese. We hang with Reese in the afternoon, then around 3pm we start organizing for the walk to Munford. It takes a couple of minutes to set up the double stroller and 8 minutes to walk to school. I love getting to see more of my friends, Griff loves riding the bus and being a "walker" and getting to ride his scooter home. Doesn't hurt that I'm using next to no gas and have soooo much more time in each day.
