It appears that we'll be joining the legions of families who have hosted a pirate-themed birthday party, a mere two to three years after the peak of the fad. Tired and lame? No!! (Ok, I'm worried that the parents will think so. The kids never seem to get enough of it, no concerns that pirates are so-five-minutes-ago to six-year-olds.) Griff, who never gets a party anywhere near his Christmas-day actual birthday, is WAY PSYCHED and full of ideas. It's fun to plan an event with a child who is actually capable of giving input. It's also nice that he doesn't seem to care that his party is 5 weeks after his birthday. Once again I'll promise myself to be more on top of things next year.
Since it took forever for me to get from picking a date to actually making invitations, we hand-delivered them on Monday the 19th. That probably got them into people's hands 2-3 days sooner, and it gave us an opportunity to scope out just how close some of his classmates live to us. Both Ethans live within two blocks, who knew? Playdate opportunities abound!
