A series of Monday Adventures finally took us Southside to Pocahontas State Park, where I had heard the water park is legendarily awesome. Despite some hiccups in getting there (caffeination for mother, fuel for vehicle, repeated stops to deal with tantrum-inducing twisted seatbelts and children poking each other), we managed to get there in one piece and enjoy nearly 4 hours of sun and chlorinated surf with the five other families who came out to play with us.
Eight thumbs way up from our family. Griff never came out of the water once for anything, Reese's enthusiasm for the equipment overcame his objections to the distance we had to travel, and Xander is always in favor of anything that requires a "sihsoop" (swimsuit).
The state park itself also looks fairly cool and has nifty CCC origins, so some time when it's not so bloody hot we'll have to head back for some hiking.
