This GDP chart popped up at the beginning of an economic recovery article on CNN and gave me flashbacks. See the -2.7% dip in the 3rd quarter of 2008? That was immediately after we decided to act on three-plus years of wanting to live closer to town and put a contract on a house in August. See the -5.4% plunge in the 4th quarter? That was when the sale of our old house fell through six days before closing, a mere three days before the moving van was scheduled to pull up to our front door. The -6.4% red bar of doom in 2009's first quarter? Yeah, that was the weeks and months during which there was no action whatsoever on the old house. All while we paid two mortgages and anxiety-attacked through the winter and spring.
The +3.5% beautiful blue bar? We led that one off by selling the house. Oh my goodness, that was a good day.Nearly one full year after closing on the West End house, I don't regret moving for one second. But I am so, so glad to be on the other side of it.
