I read something today about American Girl Doll salons (which I knew existed) where kids can get their dolls' ears pierced (which I didn't know you could do). I had to wonder what's involved in doll ear-piercing, and whether the kids know it's permanent, and what they think of it later. I was reminded of Suntan Barbie, whose hair received a trim at my hands in the early '80s. While it didn't really bother me later that her hair looked so hacked-off at the shoulders - really, a look that would have been quite trendy a few years ago - I don't think I fully understood the permanence of it when I restyled her shiny locks. I didn't actually believe that it would grow back, I just didn't really consider that it wouldn't grow back.

Last full day on Sanibel Island, which probably means I'll go back to having dreams about beachcombing until the next time I can return.

On the same day that we bought little puzzle boxes for the older boys, eldest boy finally lost a tooth that had been hanging on for a long time. It's uncertain whether Swiper is stealing the tooth for his own nefarious purposes, or subbing for the Tooth Fairy.

One side of our hotel on Sanibel has four statues in a classical style. I haven't the faintest idea why; the hotel doesn't seem (at least to me) to have a theme that fits this kind of Italianate style, unless you count the tiled rooftops as vaguely Mediterranean.

Teeny tiny watermelon from our garden, the only one that grew, and the bugs started getting to it before I could pick it (I wasn't sure it was ready, it was so small). I salvaged enough for the teeny tiniest members of our family to sample it. 

::200::201::202:: where's swiper?

For the first time this year, I not only neglected to take a picture of Swiper one day, but I did it for three days in a row, and I also totally blew off doing make-up photos. 365 scandal! 

To make up for my neglect, I'm not taking a photo, but I did hide three Swipers in this Where's Waldo beach scene.  We're getting ready to take off for a week at the beach and I snagged a five-books-in-one Waldo compilation for the long car trip.  Can you find all three Swipers?
