The kids pointed the bumps out to me while we were shopping in Target and I realized that the topic of blindness doesn't really come up very often. I also realized that I had never seen a product on a store shelf labeled in braille before. I should be more observant!
The discovery also caused me to realize that we don't have any braille materials in the house, so I searched for a copy of Different & Alike and found a picture book about Louis Braille, too. We had a copy of D&A when I was a kid, and I'm hoping it's as interesting as I remember it. If the boys get into it, maybe we can take rubbings of braille we find around town. Griff's a fan of secret codes and I can see this becoming a sort of treasure hunt with the side benefit of learning about blindness and accessibility. I wonder where our library keeps their braille books?
Anybody else's kids noticing braille? Where else have they found it?
