word of the day 90/365: lukewarm

Lukewarm is how I feel about those little platitudes on tea tags.  I'll admit, I compulsively and eagerly read them, hoping for wisdom in much the same way as some part of me thinks a fortune cookie will actually contain some morsel of truth. 

Maybe some day I'll get one that tells me the meaning of life.  Of course, for that to be useful, I'd have to be wondering what it is.  Which I don't. 

The tea is tasty, though. (This cup was chai.)

word of the day 89/365: apocalyptic

I'm thinking of apocalypse in the sense of something hidden, a prophesy, the lifting of a veil of falsehood and revelation of the truth. 

And yes, that really is my wallpaper.  It's apocalyptic in more of the end-of-the-world sense, but I like it.

word of the day 87/365: frilly

I found this ruffled dove-grey headband a while back and was sure I could pair it with some simple, vintagey, light-colored blouse...but I never have.  It waits in my dresser drawer for its debut.  It wants something classic and feminine, I think.  Maybe with pearls. But what? And where would I wear it?

While I'm on frivolous, frilly fashion, I'm in drooling lust over the Butter by Nadia signature satin wrap dress.  My friend Zoe wore it to our preschool's auction last night and oh, goodness, is it one beautiful, beautiful dress (it helps that Z is also a beautiful and stylish woman!).  I see me in dusk or lead.  And maybe in the signature jersey in black, cerulean, or eggplant.

word of the day 84/365: meditate

This afternoon, I came upon Reese posing in a slow series of careful, tai-chi-like poses.  They struck me as both meditative and martial-arts-inspired.  Incidentally, he also showed a quiet interest in yoga when Xander and I were taking it together, and I sometimes see him purposefully standing in mountain pose, or playfully assuming donkey pose. 

Griffin is taken with the idea of crystals as a focal point during meditation.  Here he depicts the sun reflecting off a diamond-shaped crystal.  I have some beautiful quartz crystals that were given to me by a family friend when I was a child, and I should bring them out for Griff to see.
