{The primal nature of triops swimming in its primordial nutrient soup reminds me of amniotic fluid and the evolutionary traits shared by different types of animals. Coincidentally, we had a car conversation today about birth:}
Reese: Where was I made?
Jess: I think you were made in my uterus. (pause, think) Actually, I know you were made in my uterus, and you grew there.
Reese: Did I like it when I came out?
Jess: I think it felt cold and the light was bright to you when you came out. I don't think babies like being born. They were all warm and snuggly in the dark inside their mommy's uterus and then they come out and it's not so warm and snuggly, and the lights seem too bright. You cried when you were born. I don't think you liked it.
Reese: But then I had mommy snuggles!
Jess: Yeah, you like mommy snuggles. Birth is really squeezy for babies and I think they don't like it, but they get gentle mommy snuggles and warm mommy milk, and they feel safe and happy again.
