...as in, I need a break, gimme a break, can I take a break?
Day 10 in a row of Dan working and me SAHMing without much time to breathe. I know some people have it worse, but some have it better. I'd like to be one of the latter.
Sans "me" time, I took two children under the age of 5 shoe shopping. Not for them. For me. Because what you really need to do when you're feeling like you're at the end of your rope is to take two rambunctious children into Nordstrom's shoe department in an attempt to find the perfect red peep-toe pumps. A salesman stopped them from making music on an empty display. OH MY GOD, MAN, CAN YOU NOT ALLOW THEM TO DRUM QUIETLY ON BARE METAL SO THAT MY SANITY REMAINS RELATIVELY INTACT? It's a whole world full of "no" for kids out there. And today it was a world of "no" for me, too. Despite the amazinglyfabuloussuperstar friend (Christy! I love you!) who came to keep me company and try to distract my children while I tried to find shoes), I found NADA at the mall. Stupid mall. Stupid Short Pump.
I did, however, make the idiotic decision to bring two exhausted, shopped-out kids into DSW with me after all of that. Idiotic. Foolhardy. Really insanely stupid. And it turned out to be awesome. Evidently DSW is the perfect place to bring kids. Cool mirrored benches! No waiting on slow salespeople! I blissfully drifted in disposable peds, occasionally stooping to pick out a size 8 while the boys ran up and down the long aisles. Perfection. No red peep-toes but I did find these...which would you wear with this va-va-voom-y Jessica-Rabbit-worthy dress?
I put the question to Facebook and Twitter...results tomorrow.
Anyway...the Brannock Device photo above (named for its inventor, which I only learned last week, cool geekery) was the only photo I took all day. I'm not feeling the 365 word of the day love at the moment. Wednesdays may become truly "wordless" in the future, with only a random photo snapped that day (usually I use archived photos for WW posts). I'm determined to see this thing through. Stubborn idiot that I am.
Oh, and Griffin has shown so little 365 interest lately (who can blame him? it's grueling!) that I haven't even told him the word of the day in over a week. It was fun while it lasted. Maybe he'll come back later. I'm not promising anything.
